Intercept is proud to introduce Breda-based visual artist and musician Mathilde Nobel with her debut EP called ‘Stone’.
The EP starts with ‘Thunder’. A cello and minimal, but supporting, instrumentation set the stage for Mathilde’s vocals to shine. The song takes you into a downward spiral into Mathilde’s psyche finally coming to a climax that feels like rain clattering on the castle’s courtyard.
We’re then taken to the lead track ‘Stone’ which combines strong bass grooves, loud, thunder-like, crashes, and deconstructed beats with Mathilde’s singing.
‘A’ builds on that abstract side of the EP, and interchanges melodies for experimental percussion and beats. It’s a dizzying experience where snares and lo-fi drum hits build-up to the final outro of the EP, concluding the story.
‘Stone EP’ is a unique endeavor in the inner workings of a young artist showing full potential in such an early stage.
